Schmoopie Friday.

2003-05-09 - 11:04 a.m.

So Monday Mike the hot furnace guy went to my house, installed the new part in my furnace, and I now have heat. At a price. $397 to be exact, and that was after he took off an hour of labor for me, because I think he secretly wants me. Okay, he doesn't secretly want me, but doesn't it make for more interesting reading? And even though he's certainly nice to look at, he loses me when he opens his mouth. I know - I'm a picky bitch, but once you've found perfection in a man, it's hard to lower your standards.

Know what else I forgot to tell y'all? I won another WXRT contest last week. Well, technically Kurt's wife won. I'll explain. I like to play "Instant Flashback" with Lin Brehmer in the mornings. Sometimes I win. I won a few months back, and a few months before that. They're always saying how they're only looking for first-time winners though. So I won back when I lived in Palatine and used my real name and address. Then I won after I moved into my new place and used my sister's name, but my address. So when I won last week, I panicked. I gave them Kurt's wife's name, but I don't have his address committed to memory (nor would I want my prizes delivered there), so I gave them my sister's address. Still with me? Then Mr. Brehmer threw me for a loop. He said I had to come to the station to pick up my prizes. That's when my little brain had to kick itself into overdrive. I can't go pick up my prizes, because I have no ID saying I'm "Mrs. Kurt", so I asked if "my husband" could pick up my stuff since he happens to be working a couple miles from the station right now. I rule. So Bunn went to the station and picked everything up. I won: two $50 gift certificates to Boston Blackies, a $25 gift certificate to Panera Bread, DVDs of 'Basic Instinct', 'Total Recall' (which I gave to Kurt and his kids - ick), 'Glengarry Glen Ross', and 'The Doors', and two XRT CD samplers. Not bad for a couple minutes work, eh? Oh yeah, they also put our names on a guest list to go to a show sponsored by The Onion at Schuba's last night, but it didn't start till 9 o'clock, and that's a little late on a school night for us so we didn't go.

Kurt came over last night after he got off work and got done at the gym. He was busy installing Cam's new ceiling fan when I got home. I just love coming home to a man doing work in my house. ;-) While he did that, I unloaded groceries and started gravy for tonight's baked mostaciolli. Kurt's bringing the kids over for dinner and then after we're going to watch a movie. They're going to Blockbuster on the way over... Once he was done with the fan (which looks awesome, btw), I served him dinner and gave him a mini-pedicure while he ate. He was on his feet all day and was complaining that they were sore. Once I finished soaking, pumicing, nail trimming, and massaging, it was time for bed. We snuggled all night long... No sex, cuz ya know - doctor's orders and all, but it was still very nice, and he's spending the night Saturday night too, and I'm thinking a week is long enough to go without sex and screw the doctor's orders...

So the alarm went off this morning at 4 and we just laid in bed snuggling some more for about 20 minutes, and then it was time for him to shower. I got up, made coffee, packed him a lunch, and off he went. I love the sleep-overs.

And I love him. So much.

Looking back...
