Not Going to be a Fun Trip...2003-08-18 - 10:34 a.m. This will probably be the last entry for a week or so... Kurt's mom hasn't been doing well ever since he got back from the trip to see her at the beginning of July. She had breast cancer about 10 years ago and beat it. Then about 2 or 3 years ago she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She went through treatment and has been in remission for the past couple years. Now it's back and has spread throughout her body. She found this out pretty much right after everyone left in July. Then her husband was having some problems and went to the doctor as well. They operated and took a tumor the size of a basketball from his abdomen. He's doing better (most likely just being strong for Kurt's mom in order to take care of her), and starts radiation treatments this week, but he's terminal. Kurt's mom called him last week to ask if he was serious about me. When he told her that he was, she told him that she wanted to meet me, but didn't think she had that much time left. We were planning on going down to Florida in a couple weeks. Since then though, his mom has seen the doctor and has been told she has about 2 months to live. I feel horrible for him; he's a wreck. I don't know what to say to him. So our plans have changed. We're leaving Wednesday morning and taking the boys with us. We're driving down, and the boys and I are flying back Saturday night. Kurt will probably stay for another week or so and wants his car so he can not only get around, but not be tied to a flight on a specific day. So that's the deal. I'd love to take the time to respond to your comments in the guestbook, Cholak, but I've got a lot of stuff to take care of before Tuesday night and don't feel like dealing with you right now. As for you, Melanie - sorry the kissing stuff took you by surprise, but he told me he told you the day after it happened, and he still says he did so who knows... Bigger fish to fry.
