Free At Last.2003-10-11 - 4:42 p.m. I know I've been avoiding updating, but hell... I just haven't felt like it. I haven't been in a funk like MKM or anything - just really didn't feel like doing it for no particular reason. And just so you know, this won't be a great entry. I'm still not really in the mood, but I just finished reading everyone else's and felt a little guilty. So we went to Florida for Kurt's mom's service. It was very nice. Very touching, and I cried like a baby a lot that day. First they had a service at the church. The minister, Joy, is really great and delivered a beautiful tribute to Kurt's mom. Then Chuck (Kurt's mom's husband) got up to say a few words and accidentally called Kurt's mom by his first wife's name. Oops. He recovered nicely by saying, "Too many wives...", and everyone in the church laughed. We went from there to the yacht club for a luncheon thing, then back to the hotel. They spread her ashes in the bay behind the house the next day. Yes, more crying. So we came home about 3 weeks ago, and Monday Kurt got a call from his sister saying that Chuck had gone to the doctor for a CAT scan to see if his last 5 weeks of radiation treatments had worked, and he had a heart attack on the table. He passed Monday evening. That poor family. On an up-note, Kurt went to court Thursday morning, and he's now a single dude! Of course, a few hours after court, he was on the road back to Florida for Chuck's services which were this afternoon. So I'm left to my own devices for a week or so. Think I'll head on into the kitchen and make some dinner. Hey, fuck you - I told you it wasn't going to be a great entry. Hasta! Looking back... Just Pix - 2005-02-08
